NHPC works to raise awareness of the contributions and professionalism of those working in within the natural, complementary, and alternative health care field.

Life Membership

Outstanding Volunteer Award
This award is presented to a member(s) whose significant volunteer contribution to Natural Health Care enhances the continued success of our professional members and of the Natural Health Care professions.

Nominee Criteria
This award may be granted to a member(s) of the NHPC who:

  • Beyond expectations, completed a project, demonstrated sound leadership, contributed time, expertise, or service to benefit the Association membership, and
  • Accomplished remarkable achievements within their voluntary position, and
  • Are dedicated to enhancing the success of Complementary and Alternative Health Care professions, and
  • Performed their role as an Association volunteer in a timely, cooperative and altruistic manner.

President's Award
This award is presented to an individual, group or organization, dedicated to enhancing the well being and health of the community and professions, through practice, education, research, or promotion of Complementary and Alternative Health Care.

Nominee Criteria
President’s Award - Non-Member
This award may be granted to a an individual, group or organization who:

  • Is not an Association member, giving the Association the opportunity to recognize contributions to the health of the community, or to the Complementary and Alternative Health Care professions, beyond our own membership.
  • In an outstanding manner, has made significant contributions to enhancing the well being and health of the community and Complementary and Alternative Health Care professions through practice, education, research or promotion.

President’s Award - Member
This award may be granted to a an individual, group or organization who:

  • Is an Association member.
  • In an outstanding manner, has made significant contributions to enhancing the well being and health of the community and Complementary and Alternative Health Care professions through practice, education, research or promotion.

Awards Nomination Process

  1. Nomination process is pursuant to Board Policy.
  2. Nominations are accepted from members, board members, staff members and the public.
  3. All nominations received shall be considered confidential.
  4. Nominations are to be presented to the Board of Directors no later than 40 (forty) days prior to the Annual Conference. The Board of Directors shall consider the nomination and the decision is final and binding.
  5. The decision of the Board of Directors shall be communicated with the nominators in writing within 14 (fourteen) days of the Board Meeting.
  6. The award style may change over the years.
  7. This annual award is presented at the Association’s Annual Conference, or at another specially selected event.
  8. If no nominations are received for a particular award or if nominations do not qualify, no award need be granted within that year.

Life Membership 
Life Membership is conferred upon a member of the NHPC who has provided consistent and significant volunteer services in support of the Complementary and Alternative Health Care professions within the Association. 

Life membership may be conferred upon a member of the Association who has: 

  • Performed numerous meritorious volunteer services in support of the Complementary and Alternative Health Care professions within the Association; and
  • Made consistent and significant voluntary contributions to the Association over a sustained period of time while a continuous member in good standing. 

Life membership is conferred upon unanimous approval by the Board of Directors. Payment of dues and special assessments other than an applicable fee for the professional liability insurance program are waived, unless the member ceases to practice, and then the professional liability insurance program fee is also waived. Nominations shall follow the nominations process as outlined in Board Policy.
