NHPC Members Vote to Bolster Insurance Advocacy
Insurance Advocacy & Education Levy Approved

Membership direction was received through the 2007 member survey, phone calls, emails, and letters providing input on the future direction of the Association, as well as the well-attended 2009 Connections Cafés. Through all of these venues, members spoke loudly asking the NHPC to implement a more aggressive advocacy and education program that will move Canada's insurance industry to accept and recognize all 66 modalities currently recognized by the NHPC.

The NHPC Board responded to this membership call and developed the Insurance Industry Advocacy and Education Project (IIAEP).

In order to fund the IIAEP, members unanimously approved the "Insurance Advocacy & Education Levy" at the 2009 NHPC Annual General Meeting held October 22 in Saskatoon, SK. In compliance with the membership-approved levy, NHPC will assess/levy each member fourteen dollars ($14) effective January 1st, 2010 for the 2010 annual membership period exclusively to fund the IIAEP.

The IIAEP will be launched in early 2010. It will educate Canada's insurance industry about the value, benefit, and effectiveness of all 66 natural health modalities recognized by the NHPC.

In addition to a sound communications strategy, the Project will undertake, compile, and present to Canada's insurance industry critical research that demonstrates the value and benefit of natural health modalities.

Look for more information on the IIAEP early in 2010.
