Annual General Meeting and Belly Massage Workshop

NHPC Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Your involvement with the Natural Health Practitioners of Canada (NHPC) can shape natural health care in Canada. The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is a place for NHPC members to set this course by voicing their opinion and voting on NHPC initiatives.

Monday, May 31, 2010
8:30am - 12:00 noon
Sutton Place Hotel
10235 - 101 Street, Edmonton, AB

Teaching Belly Massage With Heart
Instructor: Marty Ryan

This 3-day training will introduce and thoroughly explore the world of the abdomen through the lens of the digestive system. Common conditions like acid reflux / GERD, constipation, IBS, and others will be discussed and complete treatment protocols will be practiced. With digestive system disorders and surgeries on the rise in North America, this training is both timely and important.

The workshop starts with palpatory anatomy to increase hands-on fluency in this area, since many practitioners avoid the belly because they don’t know what it "looks" like, or how it works. This course will teach your hands to "see" and feel the entire belly and digestive system as never before. Explore the muscles of mastication, trachea and esophagus, and the abdominal viscera and fascial architecture related to digestion in a layer by layer approach.

All training days will be split between didactic lecture, treatment demos, and lots of practice time with both direct and indirect, as well as superficial and deep methods of addressing the digestive system.

Marty Ryan has taught belly massage and palpatory anatomy seminars internationally since 1998. He is currently the director of Love Your Guts Seminars, and has also served on the faculty of the Seattle Massage School and the Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.

Marty's massage therapy practice currently focuses on digestive and reproductive system optimization. He has actively pursued his clinical treatment style through his full time practice over the last 15 years. His classroom teaching style is regarded as open and fun learning environment where everyone has the opportunity to participate, learn and be heard.
