To apply for NHPC membership, you will need to submit all of the following with your online application:
Police Information Checks must be completed within 90 days of when you submit your application.
Any police department or RCMP location in your area should be able to provide this service (they may require proof of residency). Some locations also offer this service online.
Proof of Education
Massage Therapy Applicants
To become a regular or associate member recognized for massage therapy, you must provide proof of graduation from an NHPC-recognized 2200-hour massage therapy program.
Internationally trained massage therapists must meet additional requirements.
Non-Massage Therapy Applicants
To become a regular or associate member in a holistic health practice other than massage therapy, your training program must be NHPC-recognized.

Proof of English Language Proficiency (ELP)
Language proficiency requirements protect the public by ensuring practitioners can communicate effectively with:
- clients
- allied health professionals
- health benefits providers
- law enforcement
- professional associations
- regulatory bodies
All members must be able to fully understand NHPC materials, including:
- Code of Ethics
- Bylaws
- Standards of Practice
- Continued Competency Program
- policies and guidelines
- communications about membership (e.g. renewal notices)
As an applicant for membership, you must prove that you meet our language proficiency requirement. When you fill out the application form, you will have to submit ONE of the following documents as proof of your proficiency in English:
- Canadian high school diploma
- transcript that shows completion of English 30 or Grade 12 English equivalent
- proof of completion of General Educational Development (GED) test
- results from a recognized English Language Proficiency test that meet the required score:
