Job Type: Part-Time/Full-Time

Position Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Massage Therapist to join our clinic. The ideal candidate will focus on women’s health issues, pre and post natal, stress management, aging population issues which beyond Swedish and deeper manual therapy could also include therapies like Lymphatic Drainage techniques.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside a multidisciplinary team, contributing to a holistic approach to patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality therapeutic massage treatments tailored to individual patient needs, with a focus on women’s health and stress management.
  • Specialize in therapeutic techniques to support patients in their wellness journeys no matter what age. (our clinic provides care from teens to seniors)
  • Collaborate with other healthcare practitioners to create integrated treatment plans.
  • Educate patients on the benefits of massage therapy and self-care strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records in accordance with clinic policies and regulations.
  • Stay current with best practices, continuing education, and advancements in massage therapy.

Some Areas of Competency:

  • Women's Health including pre and post natal care
  • Osteoarthritis: Degenerative joint disease leading to pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility.
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis: Autoimmune condition causing joint inflammation and pain.
  • Osteoporosis: Reduced bone density increasing fracture risk and causing postural changes.
  • Tendinitis: Inflammation of tendons often due to overuse or degeneration.
  • Muscle Weakness: Sarcopenia (age-related muscle loss) leading to decreased strength and function.
  • Joint Pain: Chronic pain from wear and tear on joints, often exacerbated by inactivity.
  • Postural Issues: Changes in posture due to muscle imbalances or joint pain, leading to discomfort.

Neurological Issues:

  • Dementia: Memory loss and cognitive decline affecting daily functioning and quality of life.
  • Parkinson’s Disease: Movement disorder characterized by tremors, stiffness, and balance issues.
  • Peripheral Neuropathy: Nerve damage causing pain, tingling, or numbness, often in the hands and feet.
  • Stroke: Can lead to physical disabilities, requiring rehabilitation and adaptive techniques.
  • Balance Disorders: Increased risk of falls due to vestibular dysfunction or muscle weakness.
  • Cognitive Decline: Difficulty processing information, impacting communication and engagement.

Pain Issues:

  • Chronic Pain Conditions: Fibromyalgia, myofascial pain syndrome, and other chronic pain syndromes.
  • Sciatica: Nerve pain radiating from the lower back down the leg, often due to herniated discs.
  • Headaches/Migraines: Increased frequency and severity in older adults, often requiring management strategies.
  • Post-Surgical Pain: Recovery from surgeries such as joint replacements or other orthopedic procedures.
  • Neuropathic Pain: Pain resulting from nerve damage or dysfunction, often chronic and difficult to treat.

Seeking Candidates:

We welcome Experienced Registered Massage Therapists and confident new grads with a keen interest in working with woman's issues and the aging population.

Qualifications:

  • Current registration and license to practice as a Registered Massage Therapist in British Columbia.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with patients and team members.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and holistic wellness.
  • Previous experience in a clinical or multidisciplinary setting is an asset.
