We recognize over 60 holistic health practices that our members can be insured to practise across Canada. Our members maintain and enhance their skills in their recognized practices through our Continued Competency Program (CCP).

Continuing Education Credits
Courses and other education do not need to be individually reviewed by NHPC staff to be eligible for credit in our Continued Competency Program.
Eligible Course Topics
If a course is within the scope of the NHPC, members who complete it are eligible for credit. Examples of eligible topics areas are:
- NHPC-recognized holistic health practices (e.g., aromatherapy, Thai massage, etc.)
- specialized topics related to an NHPC holistic health practice (e.g., anatomy and physiology)
- practitioner support (e.g., soft skills, self-care, etc. )
- business management (e.g., business tax preparation, marketing, etc.)
Topics such as religion and spirituality, medicine, treatments where the client ingests substances/supplements, nutrition, aesthetic treatments, acupuncture, counselling/psychology, or any other topics outside the scope of the Association are not eligible for credit.
Credit Amounts Awarded
Online courses are awarded five credits per course, and in-person training is awarded five credits per day of training to a maximum of 15 credits. Other learning types and credit amounts are listed in our CCP Guide (PDF).
Proof of Completion
To earn credits for completing a course, a student must have proof of completion from the course provider. This can be a certificate or other official document that includes the following information:
- course name
- instructor/provider
- format/delivery (e.g., online or in person)
- course length
- completion date
- student name

Liability Insurance Coverage
A course or program in an NHPC-recognized holistic health practice is only eligible for liability insurance coverage if it has been reviewed through our Credentials Assessment Protocol (CAP), which ensures it meets the minimum standards for that modality.
